What is new
Denmark joins Tarifo as our sixth state-fee-only country. Like England & Wales, the Netherlands, Latvia, Estonia and Portugal, Denmark has no statutory lawyer tariff — advocates’ fees (salær) are agreed privately. So this calculator runs a single engine and reports the one figure that is fixed by law: the retsafgift, the mandatory court fee payable to bring or proceed with a case, under the Retsafgiftsloven (Lov om retsafgifter), in the consolidated text jf. LBK nr. 1252 af 27.11.2014, as most recently amended by lov nr. 425 af 16.03.2021 (in force 1 October 2021).
What it accounts for
The 2021 reform abolished the old value-percentage filing fee and replaced it with a fixed-amount structure. The headline is a two-band filing fee: a claim of at most 100,000 kr pays 750 kr, a claim above 100,000 kr pays 1,500 kr. If a case above 100,000 kr is set down for a main hearing (hovedforhandling), a further fixed fee applies from a nine-band table (3,000 kr to 160,000 kr). Interim relief, payment orders and enforcement actions carry flat 750 kr fees. Family-law matters and adoption are fee-free. Appeal fees are flat replacements — not multipliers — at 2,000 kr to the High Court and 4,000 kr to the Supreme Court.
Try it
Pick a case type, enter the amount in dispute where it applies, and you get the exact statutory court fee. These are mandatory government charges, not lawyer fees — the only fixed component in Danish litigation.
