Reference

This is a reference, not a quote. A lawyer may agree to charge more, or less. The agreement is between the client and the lawyer.

Austria's RATG is a default and cost-recovery tariff, not a binding minimum. It applies when no separate fee is agreed and is the basis a court uses to award costs to the winning party (§ 1 Abs. 2 RATG); lawyer and client may freely agree a different — typically higher — fee (§ 2 RATG). The figures are net of 20% USt, which is added on top. Tarifo presents these as a reference value, not a mandatory or minimum fee, and not legal advice.

Common questions

About these Austria figures

Are these Austria lawyer fees binding minimums?
No. They are reference values from the official Austria tariff, not mandatory minimums. A lawyer may agree to charge more or less — the fee agreement is between you and the lawyer.
Where do the numbers come from?
Every figure is computed from the official tariff published by the national bar council, and the breakdown links to the specific article that produced it. Tarifo never averages market quotes or invents figures.
Is this legal advice?
No. Tarifo explains what the tariff says; it does not analyse your case. For advice about your situation, talk to a lawyer.
Is Tarifo free to use?
Yes. The calculator is free, with no account and no sign-up. The site is funded by clearly-labelled display advertising.
Does the Austria calculator include court fees?
Yes. Alongside the reference lawyer fee from the official tariff, Tarifo shows the official Austria court fee for your case type and claim amount — so you see the full cost of bringing a claim, including how it changes for a family case or an appeal.
