In Germany, Tarifo estimates indicative lawyer fees under Rechtsanwaltsvergütungsgesetz (RVG), with related state court fees computed under GKG + KV GKG + Anlage 2 (civil/labour/administrative); FamGKG § 28 / § 43 / Nr. 1110 KV FamGKG (divorce). VAT is shown separately where it applies.

Reference fee
Select a case type to see the reference fee.
This is a reference, not a quote. A lawyer may agree to charge more, or less. The agreement is between the client and the lawyer.
Germany is the exception among Tarifo jurisdictions. For court representation the RVG fee is a binding statutory minimum — your lawyer may agree a higher fee in writing (§ 3a RVG) but, by law, may not charge less (§ 49b Abs. 1 BRAO). Out-of-court work is freely negotiable (§ 4 RVG): the Geschäftsgebühr (Nr. 2300) is a range of 0,5–2,5 with a 1,3 Schwellengebühr, and consumer advice is capped (§ 34 RVG: first consultation 190 €, advice or written opinion 250 €, net). All amounts are net of 19% USt (Nr. 7008 VV RVG). Tarifo presents these figures as a reference, not legal advice.
About these Germany figures
- Are these Germany lawyer fees binding minimums?
- No. They are reference values from the official Germany tariff, not mandatory minimums. A lawyer may agree to charge more or less — the fee agreement is between you and the lawyer.
- Where do the numbers come from?
- Every figure is computed from the official tariff published by the national bar council, and the breakdown links to the specific article that produced it. Tarifo never averages market quotes or invents figures.
- Is this legal advice?
- No. Tarifo explains what the tariff says; it does not analyse your case. For advice about your situation, talk to a lawyer.
- Is Tarifo free to use?
- Yes. The calculator is free, with no account and no sign-up. The site is funded by clearly-labelled display advertising.
- Does the Germany calculator include court fees?
- Yes. Alongside the reference lawyer fee from the official tariff, Tarifo shows the official Germany court fee for your case type and claim amount — so you see the full cost of bringing a claim, including how it changes for a family case or an appeal.
